Pokémon Ruby Hack: Ideas Needed

So I've decided with the help of spess that before I start on the daunting task of making a fighting game, I'm going to make a hack of Pokémon. I have no ideas though. The only thing I've decided on is that we are going to be the gym leaders/Elite 4/Rival. Any ideas?

I have this idea for a Pokemon game. It's a bit dark. So you start off with your starter but you can't remove it from the party. You're forced to use it on your journey. This is so you become attached to the pokemon. Then later on in the story, the main bad guy kills your starter. I never really thought what happens after that, I assume the player then goes on to get revenge for the death of their first pokemon.

But yeah, here's an idea XD Maybe it might inspire you to think of something.

when your starter pokemon dies it's soul should combine with yours to access the heavenly accession ability. You then use your new heavenly attacks and kill the main evil dude. When your pokemon dies then you take its' place in the party.

That's a pretty good idea as well, although thinking about it it sounds a little difficult to implement. I haven't gotten to experience my boundaries yet though, so we'll see.

I understand. Also I remembered that there's a little tutorial showing you how to catch pokemon. A scene like this would be good for having a pokemon die.

You have a point, but a gimmick and/or plot twist are something that all the Pokémon games are missing. Will it make or break the game? Who knows. Let's just get a few more ideas rolling before we make decisions we'll regret.

We'll see. Before I go making this entire thing, I'm definitely going to make simple modifications to the original game (ex. make it so the three starters are legendaries (Groudon, Rayquaza, Kyogre) and all the Pokémon in the grass which is supposed to contain low level Pokémon will be ones that are supposed to be rare and powerful (starters from other games, legendaries from other games, etc.))

We got a lot of good stuff, but only two and a half contributors. All you need to do is give me your email address for you to be able to contribute.
